Filmmaking Minor

The Filmmaking minor is a program in the Visual and Performing Arts Area of Study. Filmmaking minors may not complete an additional minor in Journalism and Documentary Storytelling.
Filmmaking Minor Learning Outcomes
Students who successfully complete a minor in Filmmaking are able to:
- Use appropriate terminology to discuss and analyze film as an art form and cultural product;
- Demonstrate proficiency in current techniques, principles, and styles of filmmaking;
- Conceive and complete a meaningful and original short-length film for a public audience.
The Filmmaking Minor
The Filmmaking minor consists of 24 credits. At graduation, minors must have a GPA of at least 2.0 in the minor. The calculation is based on the grades of all courses presented for the minor. Only the most recent grade is considered for courses that have been repeated. All courses required for the minor must be taken on a letter grade basis. A maximum of 8 transfer credits may be counted toward the minor; exceptions must be approved by the department chair.
