PSYCH 469 - Legal Psychology Credits: 4 An examination of the relationship between psychology and the legal system. Research theories and methodologies from social, cognitive, developmental, and clinical psychology will be used to understand the legal system. We will compare and contrast the law’s informal theories of human behavior with psychologists’ understanding of behavior through empirical studies. Topics include, but are not limited to, jury selection, pre-trial publicity, eyewitness memories, police interrogations and confessions, and lie detection.
Prerequisite: PSYCH 110 , or one core course in Psychology from either the Human Processes (160’s) or Individual Differences (170’s) category.
