Liberal Studies (LS) courses help students develop and improve academic skills. They encourage students to see how these skills are used in different contexts and how to make connections between courses and disciplines. Self-reflection is encouraged. Students develop effective study skills as well as learn to assist other students’ learning.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop practical written and interpersonal communication skills
- Develop critical thinking skills
- Use academic resources to deepen learning and solve problems
- Develop mentoring skills for academics and social interactions
- Develop curricular and co-curricular skills that readily transfer to professional settings.
- Explore self-knowledge as it relates to a sense of civic identity and sustained commitment to civic involvement
