ART 281 - Painting I Credits: 4 A study of the fundamentals of painting in oils or acrylics. The preparation of supports and grounds, indirect and direct methods of painting, color organization, composition and artistic expression are presented through studio projects. Historical background on painting in the 20th century is introduced. A field trip to an area art museum is required. Coursework integrates effective oral and written communication to explore contemporary and historical practices within the medium and the role of art in human experience.
Prerequisite: ART 151 or ART 155 or ART 156 or permission of instructor.
