PSYCH 562 - Junior Seminar: Intersectional Psychology Credits: 4 An examination of current social science research related to intersectionality theory and its applications within the field of psychology. The course will be taught from a social psychological perspective, resulting in a special emphasis on social psychology, social cognition, and adjacent fields like sociology. Specific topics may include the intersections of race, ethnicity, gender, class, sexuality, disability, age, and other social inequalities and their effects on the psychosocial experiences of the individual. The course emphasizes close reading of selected peer-reviewed articles, in-class discussion and presentations, and extensive writing culminating in students writing a detailed research proposal.
Prerequisite: PSYCH 206 , PSYCH 207 , and PSYCH 162 or PSYCH 164 , and permission of instructor
