FRNCH 370 - Writing and Public Life Credits: 4 An examination of significant literary texts written at important historical moments in the evolution of French and/or Francophone societies. Emphasis is placed on the role of literature in the development of intellectual history. Close reading and analysis focus on ways in which literature both reflects and influences the history of ideas. Topics vary from year to year and may include: l’écrivain engagé, political and historical essay-writing, and literature and war.
Prerequisite: FRNCH 305 or permission of the instructor.
