ECON 229 - Advertising I Credits: 4 An introduction to the evolution, functions and practices of the advertising industry. Students learn about the economics of advertising, especially with reference to market structures and competition. Additional topics include advertising planning, budgeting, and monitoring. Through case studies and other experiential learning techniques, students gain insights into the role of advertising agencies, the media and the process of organizing campaigns. Other topics include: best practices in advertising, ethics in advertising, new media, celebrities, and electronic advertising
Prerequisite: ECON 100 or ECON 101 .
