HIST 280 - Bodies, Bloodletting, and Bile: Healers, Health, and Medicine from Antiquity through the Early Modern Period Credits: 4 A survey of the history of medicine from Antiquity through the seventeenth century. This study traces the development and transmission of medical knowledge and practices between the Latin West, the Middle East, India, China, and the Americas. Students learn about medical theory and practice, concepts of the body, modes of healing and therapeutics, and the medical marketplace in their social and cultural contexts. Students also consider different historical debates about these topics.
