HIST 151 - History of Medieval England, 1066-1485 Credits: 4 A survey of English history from the Norman Conquest to the Wars of the Roses. Students consider the social and economic foundations of political and cultural events. Emphasis is given to the development of English political and religious institutions. Among the topics considered are the establishment and growth of the monarchical form of government, the origin and development of the representative institution of parliament, the successes and failures of medieval monarchs, the dynamic tensions between local feudal authority and the royal court, the Hundred Years War, and the Wars of the Roses.
