COMRT 471 - Theories of Identity and Representation Credits: 4 An advanced study of key theories in communication and cultural studies on the questions of identity and representation in the contemporary world, with an emphasis on interpreting primary sources. Students engage with original theoretical texts that define the nature of identity and subjectivity, consider the role of representation in the creation of our reality, and analyze the power of public communication to change and shape our worlds and ourselves.
Prerequisite: COMRT 220 or COMRT 240 , or permission of the instructor.
