Summary of Policy

All students living on campus are required to have a meal plan. Our on-campus dining facilities offer a variety of menu choices and are able to accommodate most medically-required dietary needs. In those rare cases where we are unable to meet a student’s medical need, exceptions may be granted to the meal plan requirements.

The process for requesting such an exception is as follows:

For medical reasons:
Students seeking exemptions from the Meal Plan due to a food-related accommodation can request an accommodation through Student Accessibility and Support Services. Students can request an accommodation by reaching out to Student Accessibility and Support Services.

For all other reasons:
Students seeking exemptions from the Meal Plan for religious or other non-medical reasons can contact the Student Life Office (deanofstudents@allegheny.edu) to request an exemption.  . Students will be required to meet with members of the dining provider and demonstrate proof that their dietary needs cannot be reasonably met by the dining company. Note: Financial concern is not a valid request for a meal plan exemption.
