Allegheny College offers a major and minor in Spanish and instruction in the Spanish language through the department of Modern and Classical Languages. Students who major or minor in Spanish are encouraged to participate in the area studies program in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Quito, Ecuador; Querétaro, Mexico; or Seville, Spain. These programs offer courses in Spanish language, civilization and culture, literature, art history, politics and economics. Required courses for the major may be taken through participation in an approved program of study abroad with the exception of FSMLG 201 , SPAN 580 , SPAN 600 , and SPAN 610 .
