ENGL 209 - Literature About the Environment Credits: 4 A comparative study of the environmental imagination as expressed in literature. Of primary concern are questions of style, narrative, and representation in light of larger social, ethical, and political concerns about the natural world. In contrast to environmental philosophy or policy, the emphasis in this course is on the form of expression as well as the ideas presented. Authors studied may include Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry Thoreau, Annie Dillard, Aldo Leopold, and Janisse Ray.
Prerequisite: ENGL 110 .
Distribution Requirements: CL, HE.
ENGL 200 may be used in place of ENGL 110 in satisfying the prerequisite for the above course.
